Pakistan Blanket Project – An Update: |
The use of traditional blankets in flood areas of Pakistan is not practical, rather the communities use what is locally known as razaees (godro in Gujrati). These are warmer, practical, washable and longer lasting. We were able to source these locally from Multan, Pakistan, eliminating transportation cost and time. The landed cost at locations is now US$9.50 instead of US$15 as previously appealed for traditional 5kg Chinese blankets. So instead of 2,000 blankets, we are now targeting 3,200 razaees; all excess funds received for this initiative will go towards purchasing more razaees as the need is overwhelming. |
