| Floods in Pakistan and Leh, India – A Catasrophe: | ||||||||||||

Pakistan:
I will, insha’Allah, be in Pakistan September 05, 2010 and submit a detailed report on the situation there and account for your contributions. CAI has advanced USD50,000 to Hussein Foundation in Pakistan for relief work (mostly purchase of food grains and emergency shelter) for the victims and raised USD41k so we are still short USD9k.
Our next phase of relief for the victims will be purchase of tents for those who have lost their homes. Each tent that houses about 6 costs about USD122. There are literally thousands of families living outside on streets and fields braving natural elements; a tent will go some way in proving small comfort to these poor, innocent and traumatized victims. The need is for 10,000 tents in Sindh Province alone! We are targeting 250 tents so our goal is USD30,500. If one family sponsors, we will be there – PLEASE help!

For those of you who want to pay this shareee obligation through CAI, especially for Pakistan and Leh relief efforts, please have these paid no later than Ramadhan 28. We will arrange to have the funds distributed on Eid day. Make sure you make appropriate niyyats to accommodate the early payment.

CAI has completed 90% of targeted areas for Iftaar distribution; here are some photos from Dykundi, a severely impoverished area of Afghanistan and from Sirsi in UP, India. Similar distributions are still in progress in India & Afghanistan so please help us achieve our target.

| Appeal for Blankets for Coming Winter: |

CAI tries to provide warmth to the homeless and destitute in Afghanistan every winter. Afghan winters are usually very extreme and death through exposure among the young and feeble is not uncommon. We try to help communities that are very remote, where help does not usually reach and we help those that we could not in prior years. A USD16 investment from you will provide a nice, thick, warm, life saving blanket for 2. We are trying to reach about 3,200 families this year, insha’Allah so we look to raise USD51,200 before September. The earlier we purchase them, the cheaper the cost, lead time and logistics for the blankets to make it from China before winter begins in earnest November.
CAI therefore looks to all of us to invest in this very worthy and life saving investment for those that are most vulnerable and destitute. Please invest in a blanket or two or more; the returns will be invaluable.
