Sakina Girls Home – Zanzibar, Tanzania

These twenty orphans came to the Sakina Girls Home when they were four or five years old. Now, after more than seven years of quality donor care and educational opportunities, they are typical teenagers who aspire to succeed and build a better future, thanks to the dedicated donors who have supported them and their caregivers at the orphanage.

Bahman Zehra Hospital – Sirsi, UP, India

This medical facility is within the complex that houses the Bahman school and the girls’ and boys’ orphanages, all of which CAI donors actively support. The hospital is now in a dilapidated condition after thirty-five years of serving the poor peasant community of Sirsi. CAI is considering a major overhaul of the hospital, conditional on funding, to modernize it and expand services for the poor. Among the many average services it provides:
  • Eye treatment – 50 patients/day.
  • Cataract surgeries – 10/week.
  • Pathology tests – 25/day.
  • OPD – 50/day.
  • Ultrasound – 50/week.
  • X-rays – 10/day.
  • Gyno – to be added after renovation.
