Afghans Are Hungry

The hunger situation in Afghanistan is a disaster of epic promotions. The local currency, the Af hit 130 to the US$ as I write this appeal; it was 77 the day the Taliban took over. This means a person who is lucky to be employed earning 10,000 Afs or US$130 three months ago now earns US$77 today. It is predicted the US$ will cross 200 in the very near future. Considering most all the basic food Afghans eat is imported from outside the country, this is a scary situation.

You and I cannot change the economies or politics of this unfortunate and luckless country. We can only try and stop despairing people from attempting desperate measure like selling a child to save a family. CAI has an active feeding program for the destitute in 17 different Afghanistan provinces catering to about 14,000 families. These families are provided 24 kg of rice, 5 liters of cooking oil and 2 kilos of sugar. We are planning to do this for at least the first quarter of 2022. This project will cost us over US$1,000,000.

I realize this is a gigantic task, but do we have a choice? I appeal for your generosity once more. Please donate and notate Afghan Food Aid Drive.

Thank you and Allah bless.

Indian Orphanages – An Update

I was able to visit our orphanages in UP and WB, India after a long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restriction. Although the situations in these locations are still in the recovery stage from the disease, our orphans are in good shape, and more importantly, continuing their education.

Here are a few photos from Kolkata, WB and Sirsi, UP.
