Ramadhan Iftaar Appeal
The mobilization for the feeding of the worldwide poor and destitute for the 24th successive year, alham’Allah, is now well underway. The goal is to provide basic supplemental iftaar needs of 14,844 poor families in 18 countries – Afghanistan, Rohingyas refugees in Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, India, Iraq, Liberia, Kenya, Nepal, Niger, Mali, Senegal, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Tanzania, Togo, and Yemen.
At an average cost of US$32 per food basket, that’s US$446,130 plus transportation and administration cost of US$25,000 – a total of US$471,130 that CAI must raise within the next five weeks for all this to be logistically possible before the holy month sets in. A bit optimistic perhaps, but doable nevertheless insha’Allah. Remember, CAI aids the poor in some of the most remote, inhospitable, and dangerous places of our world.
The collections/pledges for this project have stalled. It is imperative that all the countries CAI has committed to receive their share of iftaar food aid get it distributed before Ramadhan begins in less than a month. Please help if you can, now.
Rohingya Fire Tragedy
A massive fire caused by an exploding gas cylinder at Camp 8, 9 and 10 in Cox’s Bazaar housing Rohingya refugees has caused massive death and destruction. Preliminary reports has several people, many children and elderly who could not run burnt to death.
Total families affected 1,589. Total shelters burnt 913. Individuals affected between 7,500 to 20,000.
Field hospitals provided by MSF, PHC and Turkey all destroyed. It is a calamity for these wretched people. Comfort Aid International is trying to provide emergency aid of food, water and temporary shelter. Initial commitment of US$50,000 given. This is a developing tragedy. Please reach out if possible.
Help Them Study On A Desk?
This school, Hakim Naser Khosro located in Kabul, Afghanistan, tries to educate 1,900 children, almost all of them seated on the floor. Let us please ease their discomfort with a desk so they have a chance to concentrate and advance in life, their only fighting chance being educated. A good desk costs about US$50 and CAI has pledged 500 desks. Please help in this fantastic investment in the future of a child.
