BCT/CAI Four School Inauguration – Pakistan

CAI Trustees were on the ground in Skardu and Punjab, Pakistan, to inaugurate the four-school project funded by donors of Beta Charitable Trust (UK) and Comfort Aid International (USA). These remote schools will serve the needs of over 1,400 children (primarily girls) who are denied or have no access to quality education.

Zaharia’s Water Woes End

This is Zaharia Ramadhan Ally, a four-year-old child abandoned by her father. She used to wake up early and accompany her mother, a small-scale farmer, early mornings to fetch a pail of murky water – this was the only water she’d have access to use all day. She would then attend kindergarten class one at Kidundui Primary School, a remote village in Tanga Region, Tanzania.

Gone are those days! CAI donors paid to drill a deep-water well in her village, so now she simply steps outside her home and helps herself to as much potable water as she needs. She can now spend her time concentrating on school studies and playing, which is what a four-year-old should be doing.

CAI has drilled over a hundred wells across East Africa, providing safe drinking water to more than 500,000 people who used to walk miles for a bucket or two of unclean water. It costs about US$8,600 to drill a deep water well and equip it with a silo, a pump, a 5,000-gallon tank, and a distribution system.

Winter Blanket Survival Appeal

Winter is approaching, and CAI must act quickly to provide life-saving blankets to those in need, especially in freezing, remote areas where a warm blanket can mean the difference between life and death.

The plan is to distribute 5,000 very warm blankets in rural Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan at US$32 each. These are thick, large blankets that two adults can share.

Help save a life; please sponsor one or more blankets. We must mobilize now before these blankets are all gone or become prohibitively expensive closer to the end of the year.
