Water Project In Helmand
CAI is attempting to provide potable drinking water to 20,000 displaced refugees in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. These hapless people have been displaced by violence and have fled for safe havens to Helmand. The water available to them is scant and unhygienic so the poor have to resort to buying the water trucked in at exorbitant prices. Two deep water wells are planned, with the capacity of 90,000 liters of water for all the anticipated population of 20,000 in two years, currently at 9,000. The water will be pumped to two storage tanks with the aid of solar pumps. The cost is US$100,000 of which US$73,000 has already been pledged/collected. This is a great investment for people who have lost everything in life and are now struggling for the most basic human right. Please help if possible. Sharing a few photos of current situation.
Protein For The Poor
One of the ways CAI help supplement the lack of protein in the poor and suffering children is to distribute animal meat to the very poor in remote areas of Afghanistan and Yemen. Lamb meat (4 families share the meat of one animal) for Yemen and a chicken per family in Afghanistan, daily. This distribution is done to different families every month so there is equity for the large number of poor that are suffering. A large goat/lamb costs US$140 and 5 chickens are US$20.
