Mobilizing For Ramadhan
The holy month of Ramadhan is about one week away and CAI has begun iftaar distribution to feed the hungry all over the world once more. We are targeting the most vulnerable areas that are often in remote and violence-prone areas of the world. For this exercise to be successful and cost-effective, CAI is appealing for your donations so we can meet our target. A food basket supplement will be distributed so that a poor family can eat a satisfying iftaar. The countries CAI will aid are:
Afghanistan, Bangladesh (Rohingya refugees), Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, India, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Nepal, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, and Yemen. A total of 17,840 families will get food grains of about US$40 each.
Feeding Program - Afghanistan
The poor and destitute in Afghanistan have gone through agonizing pain in the last 6 months. With the takeover of the government by the Taliban, the cutoff from international funding, the spiraling food costs and virtually non-existing employment, these hapless people have resorted to desperate measures for food, like selling off their daughters in marriage or selling kidneys.
CAI has an active feeding program in 13 provinces of the country since October 2021 and have distributed monthly food baskets to about 14,000 families thus far. Sharing a few photos of the feeding program.

Keeping Teenage Girls In School – Zanzibar/Pemba
Teenage girls in poor communities in Pemba and Zanzibar stayed home due to lack of sanitary pads. CAI, using local workers and material, stitched reusable pads for them and arranged education and counseling. These girls can now attend classes in relative comfort.
