Herat Earthquake Victims Get Live-saving Shelter
The recent earthquake in and around Herat, Afghanistan devastated many villages, collapsing hundreds of homes. Living in tents during the brutal winter months around the corner will take lives – 100%. A temporary solution is available, providing used insulated portacabins until the victims can rebuild their homes in about 3 years. The units will be handed to homeless widows with children after the 3-year period. Each home can accommodate 3 families (average 15 people) and keep them warm at night. Each units costs US$4,000 and BCT/CAI donors have so far committed for 59 of the 167 required in the 4 villages where the homes have been completely destroyed. Please help save lives.
